Dr. Prashant Kumar
Biography
Dr. Prashant Kumar is working as a Reader at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Surrey (UK). He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge (UK) and holds a master degree in Environmental Engineering and Management from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (India).
He is leading a research group in the area of “air pollution and health” at the University of Surrey. The aim of his research is to support pollution control strategies and policies both at local and city scales. To date, he has secured over €2.5 million of funding for his research from the UK and International funding bodies such as the EPSRC, NERC, ESRC, UKIERI, QNRF, H2020, and UGPN. He has authored over 100 journal articles, receiving about 1900 citations with an H-index of 24 and i10-index of 48. Prashant is currently a Surrey PI on a number of multi-million Euros, multi-partner, international consortium projects such as the H2020 funded “iSCAPE: Improving the Smart Control of Air Pollution in Europe” and QNRF funded “EMf4ME: Emission models for fugitive particulate matter towards an online emission inventory for the Middle East Area”.
As part of this ESRC-FAPESP-NWO funded project “ASTRID: Accessibility, Social justice and Transport emission Impacts of transit-oriented Development”, Prashant is leading work on air pollution exposure assessment of different socioeconomic groups.
